🏞️ Lake Fishing Reports

Santa Margarita Lake

Conditions: Water temps in the low 50s, slightly stained visibility. Lake is near full capacity.

Bass: Picking up as water warms! Anglers reporting catches in the 2 lb range on swim jigs and paddle tail trailers. Fish moving into pre-spawn mode — focus on shallow areas near shore.

Whale Rock Reservoir 🔥

• Largemouth Bass: HOT BIT! 65°F water temp, partially cloudy
• Catch: 2 lb bass on black/blue swim jig with paddle tail trailer
• Best Spot: Within 15 feet of shore
• Spotted Bass: 2-2.5 lb average, up to 3.5-4 lbs
• Best Time: 9:00 - 11:00 AM
• Presentation: Ned Rig, Swing Head, Texas-rigged stick bait in natural colors

San Antonio Lake

• Water Temp: ~53°F, roughly half full
• Trout: Slow — a few caught on chartreuse/rainbow PowerBait
• Catfish: ✅ Good! 2-4 lbs on garlic shrimp and chicken liver
• Bass: Deep winter pattern — try deep-diving crankbaits in 15-25 feet

Lake Nacimiento (Monterey/SLO Border) 🌟

Great white bass and bass fishing! 67°F, clear water.

• White Bass: Excellent — one of the best catch ratios in the state!
• Spotted Bass: Active on rocky points and flats, eating moving baits
• Best Lures: Bladed jigs, small plastics
• Catfish & Carp: Big potential — try early morning or evening
• Tip: 5,000+ acres with 165 miles of shoreline — lots of coves to explore!

Offshore fishing continues to deliver strong results. Recent charter highlights:

• Lingcod: Up to 33 lbs (season totals: 2,814)
• Rockfish: 56,000+ landed this season

• Bocaccio: 6,615
