🌊 Ocean & Bay Fishing (Morro Bay)

Peak season continues — May conditions are firing on all cylinders.

  • Rockfish & Lingcod: Excellent. Offshore structure producing strong catches. Charter boats reporting limit fills.
  • Halibut: Good nearshore. Sandy areas from Morro Rock to Sand Dollar yielding fish.
  • Salmon: Opening soon — stay tuned for updates as coastal seasons settle in.
  • Surfperch: Solid from piers and surf zones. Best on incoming tides.
  • Mackerel & Sardines: Great for light tackle. Schools running tight to shore.

💡 Tip: Wind picks up afternoons — hit the water early for calm conditions.


🏊 Freshwater Lakes

Lake Nacimiento ("Lake Naci")

  • Bass: Good. Fish moving to shallows with warming temps. Topwater at first light 👌
  • Trout: Fair. Most holdover fish in 20-35' depth.
  • Catfish: Heating up. Night bites picking up — chicken liver and cut bait effective.

Lake San Antonio

  • Bass: Good. Schools staging on main lake points.
