🎣 SLO County Fishing Report — May 4, 2026

Monday motivation! We're entering prime fishing season on the Central Coast.

🌊 Ocean & Bay Fishing (Morro Bay)

Conditions excellent — warmer water pushing fish closer to shore.

  • Rockfish & Lingcod: Outstanding. Reefs and structure holding big schools. Charter boats filling coolers daily.
  • Halibut: Good action. Sandy bottoms from Morro Rock to Cayucos producing. Drifting with live bait.
  • Salmon: Looking promising — check CDFW for season updates.
  • Surfperch: Solid from pier and beach. Best on low light hours.
  • Mackerel & Sardines: Ball tight to kelp paddies. Great for kids' first fish!

💡 Tip: Tides calm midday — dawn and dusk windows are gold.

🏊 Freshwater Lakes

Lake Nacimiento ("Lake Naci")

  • Bass: Good. Warming triggering spawn wrap-up. Shallow bites on topwater early.
  • Trout: Fair. Stocked fish settling in. Deep trolling productive.
  • Catfish: Heating up after dark. Chicken liver, crawfish effective.

Lake San Antonio

  • Bass: Good. School fish on main lake humps.
  • Trout: Slow but fair. Fly anglers having success with nymphs.
  • Panfish: Excellent. Great for families — bluegill on worms non-stop.

📅 Week Ahead
