🏞️ Lake Fishing Reports

Santa Margarita Lake

Conditions: Water temps warming into upper 60s, clear visibility. Lake near full capacity.

Bass: Post-spawn and moving deep. Focus on deeper structure, shady pockets, and creek channels. Morning bite best.

Whale Rock Reservoir πŸ”₯

  • Largemouth Bass: HOT BIT! 70Β°F+ water temp, clear
  • Catch: 2-4 lb bass on chatter baits and finesse plastics
  • Best Spot: Within 25 feet of shore, docks and vegetation edges
  • Spotted Bass: 2-3 lb average, aggressive on moving baits
  • Best Time: Morning bite (7:00 - 10:00 AM) and evening (5:00 - 7:00 PM)
  • Presentation: Ned Rig, Texas-rigged craw, spinnerbait, topwater

San Antonio Lake

  • Water Temp: ~62Β°F, roughly half full
  • Trout: Fair β€” try rainbow PowerBait near inlets
  • Catfish: βœ… Good! 2-5 lbs on chicken liver and shrimp
  • Bass: Moving deep β€” try watermelon/red fluke tricks

Lake Nacimiento (Monterey/SLO Border) 🌟

  • White Bass: Excellent β€” excellent catch ratios reported
  • Spotted Bass: Active on points and creek channels
  • Best Lures: Bladed jigs, small swimbaits, inline spinners
  • Catfish & Carp: Good early morning/evening bite
  • Tip: Explore the east coves β€” less pressure, bigger fish!

🌊 Ocean Fishing: Morro Bay

Summer ocean fishing is heating up! Here's what's happening:

  • Lingcod: Season in full swing, great action on bottom fishing
  • Rockfish: Excellent action, Vermilion rockfish strong
  • Pacific Mackerel: Running offshore β€” great for live bait

Morro Bay Harbor Conditions: Calm mornings, afternoon winds picking up. Check marine forecast before heading out.

🐟 What's Biting:

  • Ocean: Rockfish, lingcod, salmon, bocaccio
  • Bay: Halibut, perch, sole
