Happy July 1st, Central Coast anglers! 🎣 Here's your latest fishing report as we head into Independence Day weekend. Summer fishing is in full swing!
🏞️ Lake Fishing Reports
Lake Nacimiento 🌟
- Level: 763.62 ft MSL (+0.03 ft from yesterday) — stable summer pool
- Temp: ~78-80°F surface, cooling with depth
- Capacity: ~50% (typical summer level)
- White Bass: ✅ GOOD — early morning shallow bite before heat of day
- Spotted Bass: Excellent on main lake points, schooling on shad
- Best Lures: Spinnerbaits, crankbaits (shad colors), topwater early AM
- Catfish: ✅ EXCELLENT! Big cats stacking in 20-30 ft, best at night
- Tip: Fish early morning (6-9 AM) or evening (6-9 PM) — mid-day heat pushes fish deep!
Santa Margarita Lake
- Level: Near full capacity
- Temp: Mid-60s, stained visibility
- Largemouth Bass: ✅ GOOD — fish deep structure, schooling at dusk
- Best Baits: Deep-diving crankbaits, drop-shots, Texas rigs
- Crappie: Good on deep brush in 20-30 ft
- Catfish: Excellent — chicken liver and garlic shrimp
- Tip: Focus on deep water during summer!
Lopez Lake
- Level: Moderate, seasonal drawdown ongoing
- Temp: Warming into low 70s
- Bass: Good — deep crankbaits and drop-shots working
- Panfish: Bluegill and crappie near marina structure
- Tip: Fish the deep pockets and creek channels
San Antonio Lake
- Level: ~43% capacity
- Temp: Mid-60s, slightly stained
- Trout: Slow — try PowerBait at dawn near inlet
- Catfish: ✅ Good! Big cats on chicken liver
- Bass: Fair on shallow crankbaits early morning
