Happy July 1st, Central Coast anglers! 🎣 Here's your latest fishing report as we head into Independence Day weekend. Summer fishing is in full swing!

🏞️ Lake Fishing Reports

Lake Nacimiento 🌟

  • Level: 763.62 ft MSL (+0.03 ft from yesterday) β€” stable summer pool
  • Temp: ~78-80Β°F surface, cooling with depth
  • Capacity: ~50% (typical summer level)
  • White Bass: βœ… GOOD β€” early morning shallow bite before heat of day
  • Spotted Bass: Excellent on main lake points, schooling on shad
  • Best Lures: Spinnerbaits, crankbaits (shad colors), topwater early AM
  • Catfish: βœ… EXCELLENT! Big cats stacking in 20-30 ft, best at night
  • Tip: Fish early morning (6-9 AM) or evening (6-9 PM) β€” mid-day heat pushes fish deep!

Santa Margarita Lake

  • Level: Near full capacity
  • Temp: Mid-60s, stained visibility
  • Largemouth Bass: βœ… GOOD β€” fish deep structure, schooling at dusk
  • Best Baits: Deep-diving crankbaits, drop-shots, Texas rigs
  • Crappie: Good on deep brush in 20-30 ft
  • Catfish: Excellent β€” chicken liver and garlic shrimp
  • Tip: Focus on deep water during summer!

Lopez Lake

  • Level: Moderate, seasonal drawdown ongoing
  • Temp: Warming into low 70s
  • Bass: Good β€” deep crankbaits and drop-shots working
  • Panfish: Bluegill and crappie near marina structure
  • Tip: Fish the deep pockets and creek channels

San Antonio Lake

  • Level: ~43% capacity
  • Temp: Mid-60s, slightly stained
  • Trout: Slow β€” try PowerBait at dawn near inlet
  • Catfish: βœ… Good! Big cats on chicken liver
  • Bass: Fair on shallow crankbaits early morning
